Family Meal fosters wellness, dignity, and kinship across our community by sharing food and compassion with those in need. What began as an effort to care for hospitality professionals has grown into a mission to serve all who need support, nourishment, and connection.

Family Meal started as a passion project to help feed out of work restaurant workers during the days of COVID-19. It was clear many industries were getting relief during that time, but not hospitality workers. They were out of work with no source of income and no relief in site. We called a few chef colleagues, most of whom were business owners themselves, and received financial support from our local county tourism board, local restaurant owners, and local citizens willing to contribute. We provided hundreds of meals under the Family Meal umbrella every week for about four months. All the menus were focused on entirely local ingredients; we were supporting many of our local farmers and producers in tandem. The positive energy and unity the program developed was just as (if not more!) impactful as the actual meals served. Since that time, Family Meal has made more targeted, individual impacts on our community's most deserving souls. We offer aid in the way it is needed most, whether it's providing financial relief to a single mom working hard in our local restaurants or purchasing a prosthetic foot for a long time dishwasher and prep cook who lost theirs due to poor medical attention because no healthcare was available to them. We are excited to push Family Meal and its impacts across our region and beyond. It will be a true blessing to many in our Eastern Shore community.
